Focus & lens
Where sharpness starts, where it ends, and what a focal length really means once the sensor changes size.
Near limit, far limit and total depth for any sensor, focal length, aperture and distance — including iPhone lenses.
02 · FocusThe single focus distance that holds everything from half of it to infinity acceptably sharp.
03 · LensConvert focal length, aperture and field of view between any two sensor sizes. Honest about what equivalence does and doesn't mean.
Exposure & light
The exposure triangle is arithmetic. These do the arithmetic so you can keep looking at the light.
Change one leg of the triangle, see the other two rebalance. Plus an EV readout and the Sunny 16 table.
05 · ExposureBase shutter in, long exposure out. Stack filters, work backwards to a target time, and see the stop chart.
06 · LightSunrise, sunset, golden hour and blue hour for any date and place, from solar geometry — no API, no location upload.
07 · VideoConvert between shutter angle and shutter speed at any frame rate, and check the 180° rule for motion blur.
Frame & output
What shape the picture is, and how large it can be before anyone notices.
Your files
Three tools that open your own photos. They never leave the browser — there is no server to send them to.
Read the camera, lens, exposure and GPS metadata inside a JPEG or HEIC — then strip it before you share.
11 · ColourDrop a .cube file onto a photo and see the grade, with an intensity slider and a before/after wipe.
12 · ColourRGB and luma histogram, clipped-pixel counts, and a zebra overlay at 90 / 95 / 100 IRE.
Why a camera app ships calculators
Because we needed them. Lucid Camera is a manual camera for iPhone — you hold one leg of the exposure triangle and the app floats the rest, live. Building that meant writing the depth-of-field maths, the equivalent-exposure maths, the solar-position maths and a .cube parser anyway. Putting them on the web costs us nothing and saves you a tab full of ad-choked calculators.
They are deliberately plain: every formula is stated on the page, every assumption is labelled, and nothing here phones home. If a number looks wrong to you, the page tells you exactly how it was derived so you can check it.
Manual, made lucid.
A manual camera for iPhone. Pick A, M, S or I — the camera floats the rest, live. RAW & ProRAW to 48MP, focus peaking, zebra, live histogram, LUT looks, saved profiles.
